Rubavu – Rwanda (21st March, 2018);- Never Again Rwanda and DRC-based Pole Institute, in collaboration with different youth organizations affiliated to the regional programme will hold a Regional Youth Forum, under the theme; “The role of youth in consolidating the resilience capacities for peace” on the 21st of March 2018.

The event  will be part of a regional programme “Trans-border dialogue for peace in the Great Lakes Region”, that is implemented by Interpeace and its partner organizations in Burundi, DRC and Rwanda, who have worked with different youth organizations and clubs. This collaboration aims at shaping individual and group attitudes, behavior and practices among youth, in order to promote the use of non-violence and tolerance to overcome conflicts, resist manipulation and promote social cohesion and regional solidarity and collaboration.

This forum will attract around 80 participants including 60 young men and women from youth organizations in North Kivu (mainly Scouts and Guides Associations, Association Jeunesse pour la Vie and youth clubs from local Universities) and Rubavu (Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle, Commission Justice et Paix, Association des Guides au Rwanda and youth clubs from local Universities and schools, affiliated to NAR), joined by members of the Bureau of Groupe de Dialogue Permanent (GDP Goma-Rubavu), officials from Rubavu Districts and representatives of The Economic Community of the Great Lakes Region(CEPGL).

The gathering will also include representatives of religious confessions and regional organizations and will hence contribute to a dialogue between those different key actors of the Great Lakes society. The participants are expected to exchange ideas on the role of youth in resilience for reconciliation and peace in the Great Lakes Region and to identify major challenges to peace and social cohesion in the region and share their concrete positive contributions and propose practical solutions.

Two documentary films from 2 case studies on resilience for reconciliation will be showcased
