Increasing youth participation in Democratic Governance and Social Justice: Training Manual

This manual evolved from “Inzira Nziza” which is a two year project funded by USAID Rwanda, implemented by Never Again Rwanda in 5 districts across Rwanda. The overarching project goal is to contribute to the promotion of peaceful dialogue and democratic values through human rights based approaches, and influence understanding on the rights of the most vulnerable groups in Rwanda. This manual therefore aims to train youth and decision makers to express and debate their views on democratic values and take leadership roles in political participation as a means of effectively promoting and protecting human rights.

Youth Innovation Toolkit

Young people constitute an estimate of 1.2 billion people in the world. Rwanda has a uniquely young population; over 70% of the population are under the age of 35. However, youth in Rwanda lack meaningful opportunities to engage in decision making. As, young leaders of tomorrow this toolkit equips them with the skills that are necessary to participate in decision making processes, influence policy and to tackle challenges bedeviling their communities.

Critical Thinking Toolkit for Facilitators

The Critical Thinking Toolkit was developed based on the lessons learned during implementation of a Civil Peace Service of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH project with Never Again Rwanda. The present toolkit is designed specically for the use of trained facilitators and requires previous training, skills and knowledge in critical thinking of facilitators. The toolkit was validated with all partners and is continuously updated to include the experiences of various partners in Rwanda with the Critical Thinking approach.


Engaging Youth in Building an Equal and Inclusive Society: Training manual

The manual is intended to be useful to all leaders and civil society organizations, to train youth leaders and work with young men and women to change their mind-set by strengthening their capacities, improving their confidence and tackling the root causes of their non-participation in politics. It aims to support youth to develop sustainable and joint mechanisms that offer opportunities for participating in dialogues on rights, principles and democratic issues.

Promoting youth Leadership in Democratic Governance: Training Manual

Young people in Rwanda have played an immense role in the reconstruction struggle and social changes that have accompanied this development. However, a lot is still lacking. The manual thus addresses youth capacity issues such as dialogue, research, mentorship, accompaniment and social media to boost their skills and strengthen the capacities of local leaders to champion and be responsive to youth needs

The Healing process of a Wounded Society: Training guide

Released: 2018

NAR conducted a mapping exercise to find out the peace actors involved in healing, approaches used, successes and challenges. One of the key findings from mapping exercise demonstrated that many people in community need healing, yet there are very few actors focusing on healing programs in Rwanda. This guide is for training Peace Agents to promote healing and reconciliation in their respective communities through dialogue.
